How can I order DNA tests on Ancient DNA Hub?
To order the Ancient DNA Hub's tests, you first need to upload your raw Autosomal DNA File.
Have you taken an autosomal DNA test before? If so, you should be able to download your raw file from your DNA test provider.
If you did not take a DNA test before, or if you wish to get our Advanced GPS Origins test kit, optimized for Ancient DNA data, you can order it here.
How can i download my DNA file from my DNA test provider?
We wrote instructions on how to download your DNA file from the main providers. If your provider is not on the list or if it doesn't work for you, please contact the DNA company you used. We cannot access your account and we cannot download the file for you due to security and privacy reasons.
What does a raw DNA Autosomal File look like?
The file looks like this (in the case of 23andme):
# This data file generated by 23andMe at: Tue Nov 3 11:30:49 2009
#
# Below is a text version of your data. Fields are TAB-separated
# Each line corresponds to a single SNP. For each SNP, we provide its identifier
# (an rsid or an internal id), its location on the reference human genome, and the
# genotype call oriented with respect to the plus strand on the human reference
# sequence. We are using reference human assembly build 36. Note that it is possible
# that data downloaded at different times may be different due to ongoing improvements
# in our ability to call genotypes. More information about these changes can be found at:

Files from other providers may look slightly different.
What should I do after I download my DNA file?
Once you have downloaded the file, upload it to your account at Ancient DNA Hub.
You can upload more than one file (for example, for your parents or spouse, as long as you have their permission) and have multiple profiles.
Now you can order our tests.
Make sure to select the correct profile for which you wish to order the test.
Should I order the GPS Origins DNA test?
The GPS Origins DNA kit is the most accurate commercial test available for tracing ancient DNA. Not only it captures unique markers not avialable in other tests, it also offers biogeographical insights far beyond what other ancestry tests provide. Unlike standard kits that give broad continental breakdowns, GPS Origins uses advanced algorithms and a reference panel of over 1,000 populations to pinpoint your ancestral origins to specific regions, even towns or villages, hundreds to thousands of years ago. It tracks ancient migration routes and identifies the unique gene pools that make up your DNA, providing a level of geographic and historical resolution unmatched by competitors. If you are truly interested in understanding where your DNA comes from, not just recently, but deep into the past, this is a great test for you!
