Russia: The Saints from Sunghir
I was surprised at some of these results, while others were more expected. I was sure I would come out with a high proportion of Nordic and Celtic ancient DNA, as I have fairly recent ancestors from these areas, but Indian and Persian were a big - and welcome - surprise, as I admire these cultures.

My 30 Ancient Gene Pools
This test will take me a long time to really process and understand! There are some expected results here but also some that were quite unexpected, and following possible tracks of the various groups as they moved around Europe and Russia is very interesting.

This is a very different type of DNA test that connects your DNA with that of ancient peoples. I will need to do some further research and analysis to fully appreciate the findings but it certainly gives food for thought.

My 50 Rare Ancient Gene Pools
Since around 40% of my ancestry originates from Kent, I was eager to discover if I had deeper origins in the county which was the gateway to Europe as well as the Garden of England. I discovered that I had chunks of Celtic, Nordic and Aegean DNA amongst others and it was fascinating to see that I had links to ancient peoples.

Kent, Prehistory to the Dark Ages
I'm originally from Kent as are a lot of my ancestors. I thought there will be some of the ancient DNA there but probably not a lot considering how long ago, invaders etc since. So I was quite surprised that my genetic similarity to Eoghan is 74%. Didn't expect anything that high. Makes me wonder what the advanced test may reveal. Hmmm... Paydays only a week away....

Kent, Prehistory to the Dark Ages
While I had an idea that a large chunk of my DNA may have 'wandered' to the UK across Doggerland, that being Eurasian hunter gatherers and Canaan and Anatolia I was surprised by nearly 30% (29.9) being Albion and Alba, the original Brits. Even more surprising, although very small at 0.2% was the Mesolithic and Neolithic Asians. That one baffles me!

My 10 Ancient Gene Pools
I am fully satisfied with my experience using Ancient DNA Hub.
After trying other ancient DNA platforms in the past, I often felt that the results were too generic or based only on my recent ancestry.
Ancient DNA Hub gave me a much more interesting and meaningful interpretation, especially for deeper ancient ancestry.
I purchased the Xiongnu Empire package, and the report was clear, detailed, visually well organized especially the comparison between me and the modern Mongolians. The results felt coherent with the historical routes of the Xiongnu, Huns, Scythians, Sarmatians, Tatars and other Turkic-Mongolic and Iranian-steppe populations who moved across Eurasia over the centuries to Italy. What I appreciated most was that it did not simply reduce my ancestry to my recent Italian background, but helped me explore older layers of genetic affinity connected to steppe, Central Asian, and ancient nomadic populations.
As an exploratory tool, I found the results very coherent with other data I already had from GEDmatch and raw DNA analysis.
For me, this was a much better and more satisfying experience than other ancient ancestry websites I have tried.
I would recommend Ancient DNA Hub to people who are curious about deep ancestry and want a more nuanced ancient DNA perspective.

The 10 gene pools - basic is a good test to take for first time users who can then upgrade to advanced and take other tests like the 50 gene pools test for example and other culture tests
