The test was useful for exploring another important side of ancient China: settled agricultural populations and their role in the formation of East Asian civilization.
For my personal research, this test was interesting because I usually focus more on the northern and western frontiers of China, such as Xinjiang, Mongolia, Xiongnu, Xianbei and other Inner Asian populations.
This report helped me better understand the contrast between the agricultural populations of ancient China and the nomadic or frontier populations that interacted with them.
I appreciated the possibility of comparing different layers of ancient Chinese history: farmers, frontier groups, highland herders, horse archers, and nomadic confederations.
This test is a good addition for anyone who wants to understand ancient China not only through dynasties and written sources, but also through population history and ancient DNA.
I recommend it to people interested in ancient Chinese populations, early agriculture, East Asian genetic history, and the deeper roots of Chinese civilization.

This was one of the most interesting tests for my personal research because Xinjiang is a key region in the ancient history of Inner Asia, the Silk Road, highland pastoralism, and Eurasian genetic exchange.
I am especially interested in ancient populations connected with Xinjiang, the Tian Shan, Inner Asia, steppe nomads and the links between East Eurasia, Central Asia, Iran and the Caucasus.
This test helped me explore the highland pastoralist side of Xinjiang, which is different from the more famous horse archer and steppe warrior models but equally important.
The report fits very well with my broader research into ancient Eurasian routes: Siberia, Mongolia, Xiongnu populations, Xinjiang, Persia/Iran, the Caucasus, the Balkans and Southern Italy.
It gave me a deeper view of how mountain and highland populations contributed to the genetic and cultural complexity of this region.
I would recommend this test to anyone interested in Xinjiang, highland pastoralism, ancient Silk Road populations, yak herders, and the genetic history of Inner Asia.

This test was very interesting for exploring the ancient Arctic and North American side of human history.
I appreciated how it helped me better understand the deep connections between Siberia, Beringia, the Arctic world and the First Nations of North America.
For me, this test was especially meaningful because my broader research focuses on Ancient North Eurasian and Paleosiberian-related ancestry, Inner Asia, Siberia and the ancient routes that connected Eurasia with the Americas.
It helped me explore the deeper prehistoric background shared by ancient Siberian and Beringian populations.
The report was useful, visually engaging, and connected well with my personal interest in ancient DNA, migration routes and the survival of Arctic peoples.

Some of these results were quite unexpected - I knew I had some Danish ancestry from old family records, but not that there would be this much. It seems I have more Yamnaya DNA and the Danish Vikings in this study had more European Bell Beaker DNA, which was surprising. I have not read all the stories yet, but they are fascinating. One surprising figure: I was listed on the right-hand column as having 0% similarity with several of the people from the study, yet in the middle column I clearly do have DNA in common, so I am not sure what happened here. Also surprising to find similarity with Iranian Jews, but should not have been quite unexpected as I know my mother was from a Sephardic Dutch family and they had ancestors everywhere around the Middle East and beyond, including Azerbaijan and along the Silk Road. I suspect they were silk merchants in the Middle Ages.

The Sarmatian Horse Lords – Advanced test was one of the most fascinating tests for me. It explores a powerful and often underrepresented part of Eurasian history: the Sarmatian steppe world, horse culture, mobility, warfare and the connections between Central Asia, the Caspian region and Eastern Europe.
I found the test especially interesting because it helps show how ancient steppe populations were not isolated, but part of a much larger network of migrations, exchanges, and cultural contacts.
The combination of genetic similarity, archaeological context, and reconstructed ancient stories made the results very engaging.
I would recommend this test to anyone interested in steppe peoples, Sarmatians, Alans, ancient horse cultures and the deep connections between Asia and Europe.

I really enjoyed the test.
It gave me an interesting perspective on ancient Italy and the Roman world, not only as a political and military power but also as a complex genetic and cultural crossroads.
The test helped me better understand the diversity behind ancient Rome and the populations connected with Italy during that period.
I appreciated the way the results combine ancient DNA, historical background and individual stories, making the ancient world feel much more concrete and personal.
This is a very valuable test for anyone interested in Roman history, ancient Italy, Mediterranean ancestry and the deep genetic complexity of the Roman world.

I found this test extremely interesting and meaningful.
This test helped me explore a part of ancient history that is often overlooked: the world of the Silk Road, horse riders, frontier communities, and ancient populations connected with Xinjiang and Inner Asia.
What I appreciated most was the combination of genetic similarity, historical context and reconstructed stories of ancient individuals.
The test gave me a much clearer sense of the importance of Xinjiang as a bridge between China, Central Asia, the steppe world and the wider Eurasian routes.
For anyone interested in ancient DNA, Silk Road history, steppe cultures, and the connections between East Asia and Central Asia, this test is highly recommended.

FAQ

  • Q: What do Ancient DNA HubTM offer?

A: Ancient DNA HubTM offers the first and only genetic tests that employ ancient DNA from real ancient people, ranging from the Paleolithic to the mid-19th century. Our tests report your genetic relationships with ancient individuals and cultures from all over the world, like Paleolithic Americans, Icelandic Vikings, or the legendary Tribes of the Biblical Israelites (before their exile).

  • Q: How is Ancient DNA HubTM different from other DNA testing providers?

A: Providers will typically compare your DNA to the DNA of modern people, such as yourself. They cannot teach you about the ancient past. We provide a comprehensive collection of cultures and report your genetic identity at the level of ancient individuals. We also provide genetic, historical, and archeological information about ancient people and cultures at low-cost prices.

  • Q: I am a genealogist. How can I use Ancient DNA HubTM for genetic genealogy?

A: With our tests, you will go far beyond the inventions of photography and paper and discover new connections with ancient people that, thus far, existed only in stories and legends.

  • Q: How accurate are your tests?

A: Our tests are developed in collaboration with top geneticists like Dr. Eran Elhaik, who has been developing genetic tests for two decades during his tenure at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Elhaik designed the GenoChip 2.0 kit and test for National Geographic, the GPS Origins kit and test for HomeDNA, and a plethora of tests for Gene Plaza. His Ancient DNA HubTM test series is the first to combine paleogenetics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to achieve an accuracy of 95%.
