Q: Who is behind Ancient DNA HubTM
A: Ancient DNA HubTM was launched by geneticist Dr. Eran Elhaik, who has more than two decades of experience developing genetic ancestry methods and DNA tests. Dr. Elhaik earned his PhD from the University of Houston and completed two postdoctoral fellowships at Johns Hopkins University. He is currently an Associate Professor at Lund University and the founder of two biotechnology companies, Anath Genomic Consultants AB and Microdentify Sweden AB.
Dr. Elhaik is one of the founders of genetic genealogy and has developed genetic ancestry technologies used around the world. He designed GenoChip 2.0 for National Geographic's Genographic Project and its accompanying ancestry analyses, developed the DREAM microarray and GPS Origins for HomeDNA, and created numerous genetic ancestry tests for GenePlaza and other companies.
As founder and scientific lead of Ancient DNA HubTM, Dr. Elhaik brings together his work in ancient DNA, population genetics, computational biology, and artificial intelligence to develop a new generation of ancient ancestry tests. In 2026, Dr. Elhaik received recognition through the Swedish IVA-List for his innovative work.
